The New York

Good old me. Stuck in this dark place with my fellow coins since year 1672 in York. No one layed a finger on us since the bank exploded and we all were buried under the debris. Well, I thought I'd stay like this forever, until the metal tip of a shovel touched my rusty gold surface.

The first thing I saw was light. The beautiful light of the sun that made me sparkle with happiness. Jolly day, as I used to say. Someone's hands carried me and dug me in their pocket. I smiled, its been years since someone carried me and I missed the feeling of being precious. My fellow coins and I jingled loudly and happily. The person's hand reached for me again and tossed me on a cool glass surface. I thought I'm in a jewellery shop. And that is when it happened... I got attacked by the hot blue flames that melted my insides and made me lose my conciousness. When I opened my eyes again I was no longer me. I was an elegant gold heart perfectly attached to a simple gold chain, but the best part was, that I was facing the world. From behind the glass, I looked at York. Or should I say the new York? Maybe I should just say the city of lights, because the night here looked alive. Colourful flames decorated the futuristic buildings. Roaring metal on wheels were zooming by, it seems like this city never sleeps. What I loved most were the weird objects piercing the sky. They just stood there lighting up with the colourful fires. A gorgeous city indeed. Change is amazing.

When I was buried under the debris, I thought life will never change. That I will shatter and decay. But New York taught me something, hope never dies.
